A Master's Degree Thesis and Dissertations

By Kenneth Elliott

These are the two most important parts in the getting of a bachelors degree or masters degree in the university. They usually make or break all your hard work and you only get to realize how important they are when yours fails to impress the examining committee. You do not want to make that mistake.

Thesis writing is associated with the bachelors degree and it is therefore done at an undergraduate level. It demands that you give it time unlike the assignment and essay papers that you can rush through overnight when you are really late on delivering. A thesis is supposed to create a new direction for a specific field and that alone means that a lot of research is needed so that you can develop, work on a new concept and watch it grow as you get engraved into the writing. With enough passion, motive and dedication, you can find out a lot of info that could guide you on the right path to getting the honored degree.

But it goes beyond the research. You need to combine the information and the data that collect in a synchronized way so that the whole theme, message and argument presented in your dissertation can be clear enough for all to see. In that case it demands that you have a good command of language, coupled with enough knowledge from you findings so that you can create material worth praise.

Dissertations are simply a case of same script different casts since these are usually in the post graduate level. They become more demanding however in the findings and the dissertations have to make for new ground in the discipline for them to be considered worthy enough. Usually this is not the problem since having read for more than six years in a field makes you well endowed with the knowledge that is needed.

The challenge that lies in the writing of thesis and dissertations is usually the presenting of the findings. Students that are in the fields of mathematics and sciences are clearly at a disadvantage since the areas give little regard to the language with more being concentrated on the concepts and ideas. In such cases, when the students are bubbling with knowledge, they lack a way to put it in black and white in such a way that it could be a replica of what they have in their minds.

Science students, with science being used as a general term, are usually more engrained in doing of research and writing for them is not really as essential as making the findings. This means that while they improve on their expertise, they lack the language to share the knowledge and that creates the challenge in the writing. The idea could be there, but when poorly communicated it becomes hard to find. In light of this it becomes important for every student to dedicate a little time to ensuring that their literal communication skills remain as relevant so they can be better in their respective fields.
