There are too Many Investment Bankers Out There

By Jennifer Bennet

The milieu of the MBA and Wall Street geniuses haven't suddenly lost its worth, but they have most definitely been diminished by the global financial crisis. Not anymore are they the only choices for the best of the best. People are commencing to thinking about old-fashioned online Business Degrees like before.

For many recent years, if you hoped to earn money for yourself, you didn't start a business. You moved to New York or London. You became a day trader. You worked with percentages of percentages that had no connection to the real world, because they'd been "derived" so many times that it took 20 PhDs to understand them.

Let's Go Back to Basics, Shall We?

But today, is that the ideal way, still the path that the fresh, eager worker is going to take? Probably not. In fact, we're going to see a big jump in Business Degree interest--legitimate, start-your-own business. So this is the best period to take your chance.

The top minds, the very people who would historically--if investment banking hadn't changed everything--go on to begin successful businesses after university, they've all just finished a range of Wall-Street-geared university programs that are going to have to be re-fitted in a world finance market that has no jobs for them.

Why Today is More Opportune Than Ever

Simply put, there has never been a more opportunity-filled chance to be in business. There have been more secure times, without a doubt, but if you take a look at the great depression, many of America's most solid, durable firms grew out of the fundamental 'where do we go from here'-type thinking of that period.

So: if you've been looking at a business degree, don't wait until everyone is full of energy and the market is once again saturated with entrepreneurs. Layoffs have been very high for many weeks now. Tonnes of people, educated people, are out of a job. You can put them to use.

Why You Need to Play a Part in Economic Recovery

When the recovery hits in full force, it's going to depend mainly on the ingenuity of actual businesspeople doing actual work, not just engineering numbers designed to make huge profits.

So get out there: you're already researching the probabilities of a business degree. Look some more. There's never been a nicer opportunity. The market isn't going to stay in a recession forever, and when it soon restarts, you want to be in the ideal place to reap the benefits of your good work. Look for your degree, start working, and make your living!
