Yep, an MBA Isn't for Everyone

By John Pressley

The milieu of the MBA and Wall Street geniuses haven't suddenly lost its worth, but they have most definitely been diminished by the global financial crisis. Not anymore are they the only choices for the best of the best. People are commencing to thinking about old-fashioned online Business Degrees like before.

In the past, if you wanted to make money for yourself, you didn't start a business. You moved to New York or London. You started day trading. You made deals with percentages of percentages that had no connection to the actual market, because they'd been "derived" so many times that they became something else entirely.

Getting Back to the Basics of Business

But now, is that the ideal way, still the path that the enterprising young graduate is going to take? Unlikely. In fact, we're going to notice a huge climb in business degree interest--actual business. So this is the perfect time to get in on the ground floor.

The top minds, the identical people who would normally--if financial engineering hadn't changed everything--go on to commence successful startups after their education, they've all just got done with various investment-oriented degrees that are no longer the best option in a world finance market that has no space for them.

Why Today is More Opportune Than Ever

Simply put, there has never been a more opportunity-filled chance to be in business. There have been more secure times, without a doubt, but if you take a look at the great depression, many of America's most solid, durable firms grew out of the fundamental 'where do we go from here'-type thinking of that period.

So: if you've been looking at a business degree, don't hang around until everyone is loaded with energy and the markets is for a second time overloaded with entrepreneurs. Job cuts have been very high for some time. Absolute swaths of people, highly skilled people, lack jobs. You can have access to a better workforce than ever before.

The Workforce Has Never Been So Plentiful: Take Advantage of It

When the recovery finally hits, it's going to depend primarily on the ingenuity of actual businesspeople doing actual business, not just engineering numbers designed to make ridiculous amounts of cash.

Get going: you're already checking out the chances of a business degree. Search around. There's never been a nicer opportunity. The world business market isn't going to be low forever, and when it eventually gets going again, you want to be there to take advantage of the benefits of your forethought. Research a degree, get to work, and do it!
