Wacky Grants To Pay For Your Education Expenses

By James Scholaris

Everyone is aware of the soaring education cost. Students always try to get scholarships to pay for their education. When applying for scholarships there is always certain qualifying criterion. You need academic excellence or an athlete, parents working in military, or something else. Did you know that simply being left handed can get you a scholarship! Sounds weird! That is what wacky scholarships are!

Some need a certain level of academic performance, some are targeted towards athletes, others to students whose parents serve in the forces and so on. But, there are several other wacky grants out there with much more esoteric criteria - for instance, there are scholarships vacant for left-handed students! Sound strange?

They may sound strange to others and hence they are wacky scholarships. Quite a few of these less well known wacky scholarship end up going unclaimed every year since very few people are even aware of their existence.

While these scholarships may be somewhat strange, even downright bizarre, they're something which any student would do well to have a look at. Depending on your height, you may be eligible for scholarships, such as the $1,000 scholarship for students who meet their requirements (6' 2" for men, 5' 8" for women). If you're under five feet (actually 4' 10"), there are the scholarships awarded annually by the Billy Barty Foundation and the Little People of America.

Extraordinarily short students aren't left out either - there also scholarships awarded to students who are shorter than 4' 10" by the Little People of America and the Billy Barty Foundation.

Do people call you Fatty? You surely don't like being one! Everything is bad about being fat. Not when you are applying for scholarship. The National association to Advance fat Acceptance gives 2 merit based scholarships to NAAF members. Who thought being fat well be helpful? Weird Huh!

There is a Kor Memorial Scholarship which is awarded to one student annually (and if you have any idea who Kor is, you're maybe a first-class candidate) by the Klingon Language Institute; and yes, there in reality is a Klingon Language Institute.

The best part is that you don't have to know any Klingon in order to be awarded this $500 scholarship. These are just a few of the many unusual scholarships which are available to those students who seek them out and meet their unique criteria.

There are countless more wacky scholarships like e.g. a caddie, having red colored hair and something you have never imagined.
