A change of name and the first among the series, The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic now turns to the Confessions of a Shopaholic. The story revolves around Rebecca/Becky Bloomwood. The main character is a financial journalist by profession and is heavily burdened by loans. She is a shopping addict (shopaholic), one into the wrong side of debt.
Rebecca Bloomwood resides at Fulham, London and shares her apartment with Suze. Becky is bored with her job and it seems that to break the monotony, it is shopping that she always chooses. Now, while she heads a press conference, she comes across some bargain sign displayed on the showcase of a shop and requests the shop owner to reserve it for her till the end of day, as she wasnt carrying the card. At the press conference, Becky finds herself between the horns of a dilemma, as she was approached for her view on a new banking policy. However, Becky finally manages to get hold of the scarf by spinning a lot of yarns only to confront the biggest heartbreak of her life.
However, Becky has someone who is a financial well-wisher for her; its the manager of the bank she holds an account with. He tries to extend help for her to get out of the debt, to which, Becky is always deaf and blind. Instead, she finds a list of eligible millionaires and though she sets up a ploy to settle her financial problems with help from her choice, she finally backs off.
