Secular Home School: Should you Home School Your Children?

By Miranda Concagh

Should you home school your child? Many parents are turning to homeschooling as an educational option for their children. There are a lot of factors that weigh into their decision. Many do it for religious reasons. But if you are considering educating at home for other than religious reasons, then you want to look at secular home school options. Should you home school your child?

There are many and diverse reasons to ask yourself if you should home school your children. Perhaps you feel public schools are just not providing for your child's individual needs. Maybe you see your son slipping through the cracks; or maybe you want to give your daughter the opportunity to progress at her own pace and with emphasis on subjects uniquely meaningful to her.

Some turn to secular homeschooling because they're concerned about bullies or other negative influences in the classroom, or because of the violence prevalent in schools. Some just want to enjoy the additional opportunities it affords them to bond with their children.

Now when you start a secular homeschool, you will be giving your kids homework assignments. But first, here's an assignment for you.

Secular home schooling is a big responsibility no matter what your reasons. But you are really to be commended for seeking information and finding out what is involved before you make a commitment. Does the word commitment scare you? If it does, then homeschooling is probably not a good option for you. Just remember, however, with the responsibility comes a great deal of satisfaction and joy.

The extra time secular homeschooling allows you to spend with your child is time you will never regret. And, with a little imagination and some planning, educating your child can be great fun.

I hope this information helps you answer if you should home school your son or daughter (or both). You know that parenting takes much time and commitment. If you are ready to take that commitment up to a new level, then secular home schooling is probably for you!

LJ James reviews "Sons Of Anarchy"

By LJ James

I have just finished reviewing the 2nd episode of the new FX show "Son's of Anarchy". I have been a fan of the FX Show "The Shield" for years and I have to say, I have enjoyed "Sons of Anarchy" so far. The show has great bikes and lots of action!

As a Member of an Outlaw Motorcycle Club, I have already seen many mistakes in the show. One thing that's really surprising to me is how people have reacted to the show and me personally. People who know I'm a member of a Motorcycle Club are asking me, "You guys aren't like that, are you?" Some of these people have known me for years! Now after a couple of episodes of "Sons of Anarchy" their wondering if I'm leading some kind of double life.

Can you imagine if a show about criminal killer Florists came out? How many people would ask the local florist if they where really like that? One fact of life about being a Biker I have come to except is, it's real easy for people to think of Bikers as the bad guys. It has always been and probably always will be that way. I wonder how many Cops had people ask them the same question when the Shield came out? I also wonder how many Police Officers who watch the Shield and know that show is fiction will watch "Sons of Anarchy" and think that's how Motorcycle Clubs really are! The FX show "Sons of Anarchy" is fiction and it is way over the top.

Son's of Anarchy is going to shine a bright light into the Motorcycle Club world. Where as the last ten years have been all about Motorcycle Builders and has led to a lot of people getting into Motorcycle Riding, I believe the next ten years will be all about Motorcycle Clubs. Now this show could be a good thing for Motorcycle Clubs if, in-between all the fictional action, it also focuses on the bond of Brotherhood Motorcycle Clubs are really based on.

Although the opportunity for "Sons of Anarchy" to make a positive statement about Motorcycle Clubs by highlighting the good Motorcycle Clubs do and the positive impact that they have on their communities exists, I have a feeling the show will have a negative impact on Clubs, Independent Bikers, and the Motorcycle Community in overall.

All the Motorcycle Clubs out there are going to need to keep their eyes wide open and watch any new prospects. MCs need to make sure that new prospects are there for the Brotherhood and betterment of the Club and the community. You don't want prospects to live out some misguided fantasy they may have seen on TV or in some Movie. Another big concern of mine is people who will just go out and throw on a set of patches and think they are the "Sons of Anarchy". The Motorcycle Club world is all about Respect and there is a serious protocol that is followed by all Clubs. I would not recommend violating that protocol in any way.

Motorcycle Clubs have spent the better part of the past 20 years working hard to shake the old biker gang stereotype of the 60's and 70's. Now that we have come so close to accomplishing our goals, a show like "Sons of Anarchy" or the upcoming HBO show 1% are here to try and drag our image back into the gang image. How far will these shows set us back? 20-30 Years? I am asking the producers of these shows, there sponsors, and everyone else out there to please remember that Brotherhood is what the Motorcycle Club world is truly about.

Beware of Scholarship Scams

By Daniel Z. Kane

Despite all of the stories to the contrary, there are probably numerous honest people selling used cars. The same can't be said about people who claim to be able to help families, for a fee, increase the amount of college financial aid they will receive.

One financial aid organization believes these scammers defraud families out of more than $100 million dollars a year.

They do it by preying on families worried about the cost of college; families who know little or nothing about scholarships and financial aid; families who are often easy targets.

The first contact between the scammers and their potential victims is a letter offering expert advice and assistance.

The letter doesn't look like typical junk mail. The logo often looks like that of an Ivy League college, and the letterhead and paper are generally on fairly high quality paper. Like the con men behind them, the promotional materials look credible.

In nearly all the letters they send, the con men begin by reinforcing families' fears about their ability to meet college costs.

After a few sentences of doom and gloom about the high cost higher education, the sales message begins. We can help you get more in scholarships and financial aid, they say. We can tell you what colleges don't want you to know, they say. Work with us, they tpromise, and you won't have to be concerned about college costs.

The letters are not always the same, but one element is. They invite you to come to a hotel function room or other reasonably large venue to learn more about financial aid and scholarships, at no cost. Sounds like a no-brainer, right? If you think so, think again.

Ultimately, attendees are subject to a group sales pitch for the companys services. The pitches are not exactly the same, but all promise that their services will result in students receiving more money for college. And, none tell you that everything they offer is either unnecessary or can be gotten elsewhere, at no cost.

The group pitch is followed by individual meetings during which families are pressured to immediately pay for the services offered. Many yield to the pressure, writing checks in excess of $1,000 for a worthless set of services.

Its sad. And, it happens every year. Dont let it happen to you. Get all of your financial aid advice from your school counselor, college financial aid office, and reputable publications and websites. Most important of all, never pay anyone for financial aid advice or services. Never.

Explaining Student Loans

By Janice Madden

Choosing the right college loan(s) will help students finance their education and avoid a bad experience when repayment becomes due. Failure to understand the rules and the options, on the other hand, can lead to unpleasant surprises and serious financial difficulties.

There are two main types of student loans; subsidized and unsubsidized. The important difference between the two is who pays the interest while a student is enrolled in college.

Subsidized student loans are limited to students who demonstrate financial need: students whose incomes are not sufficient to meet college costs. There is a fixed limit on the subsidized loan money students may borrow, but the government pays the interest on such loans while students are enrolled in college and during the first six months thereafter.

Unsubsidized loans are available to all students, regardless of financial need, and are available in far larger amounts. But, students, not the federal government, assume responsibility for the interest payments.

In most cases, students who qualify for unsubsidized loans need the maximum they are allowed to borrow. If they require funds beyond the subsidized loan maximum, they may turn to unsubsidized loans for additional assistance.

Students can apply for the Perkins Loan or the Stafford Loan. Payment on each begins after a student has graduated or has been away from college for six months. This six month "grace period" may be extended at the discretion of the individual lenders.

Parents may also take out PLUS loans for their sons or daughter. PLUS loans offer fairly low interest rates, but require repayment to begin within 30 days.

Student loans must be repaid. Even bankruptcy does cancel repayment obligation. Lenders will almost always work with folks having financial problems if they are making a genuine effort to repay their loans. However, those who attempt to avoid repayment face wage garnishment, the withholding of income tax refunds, and other serious penalties.

Loans are a great way for students to help finance their educational costs. In fact, for most people, they are the best investment they will ever make. But it is important to borrow no more than needed and to repay your loans on a timely basis.

Meet Your Deadline With A Custom Essay Service

By Sharon Whyte

Using a custom essay service to help you out with a paper when you know you are not going to make a deadline

Anyone who was ever been in college can sympathize with the situation of having the feeling that the word is crashing down on top of you because you have 3 papers due and another 3 finals to study for. That sense of panic that you go through as you realize that you just may not get it all done in time. While there is nothing other than studying that can be done about your finals, you can contact a custom essay service to help you with your papers.

There are many different writing services available, but custom essay services are aimed directly at solving this problem. It doesn't matter how long you have left to get the paper done, what the topic is about or how long of a paper it is, a custom essay service can handle just about any task you throw at them.

Now there are quite a few of them out there, so you will have to be careful. As this is becoming more and more popular every day, writing services are seeing this and diving into the market. That being the case, it is recommended that you do a little research on them and make sure you choose the one that is right for you.

When looking to hire a custom essay service to do your term paper, price is a concern, but it should probably be your last concern. The one thing that you do not want to do is hire a service for the sole purpose that they are cheaper and then end up with useless paper in your inbox. You should be more concerned about the quality of their work and also with the amount of positive reviews that you can find from them.

Any company worth their salt will have a daily essay posted right on their site for you. This is a short paper that they write solely for the purpose of impressing you with their ability to handle assignments and show you the quality of writing and research that they are capable of. You should also see a decent amount of past samples, that way you can try and find one that pertains to your topic to ensure that they can actually deliver something that you can turn in without getting a failing grade.

While price is not your main concern, you don't have to be stupid about what you are doing. If you wait too long, you will find that you have to pay as much if not more than 3 times the rate if you would have given them ample notice. Nobody can argue that shelling out $100 to get a 10 page paper is not worth it to save your grade. But if you wait until the last second, you may be paying well over $300 for the same service.

There will always be those times when you don't realize you are in a hole until the day before something is due, but in most cases, you know a couple of weeks out that you just may have a problem delivering all of your work on time. At the end of the semester when you have 3 papers due, 2 finals and have not yet started, it's time to get some help.

We all know that we shouldn't have other people doing our research papers, but sometimes you just don't have a choice. Are you supposed to fail a course just because you fell behind? You learned your lesson and you just need to get out of this jam this one time and you can get back on track. It has happened to all of us and it is nothing to be embarrassed about. Before you start doubting if this is a good thing or not, ask yourself one question. Does the President write his own speeches or does he have someone else do it for him? We already know the answer to that one, so if it good enough for him, it should be good enough for a college student trying to save themselves from an F!

How to Handle Homeschool Nay-Sayers

By Isabel Allen

Everyone who decides to homeschool their children will run into at least one person, maybe more, that tell them they shouldn't homeschool. The decision to homeschool, isn't an easy one to make, and often isn't popular. However, the choice in how your child is educated is entirely up to you, so you need to decide ahead of time how you will deal with homeschooling nay-sayers.

One of the quintessential arguments of a homeschooling nay-sayer is that you're not qualified to teach your own child, regardless if you have a Bachelor of Arts in Education or not. To this argument, I say poppy-cock! If you're a parent, you've already been teaching your child since birth. Who was it that taught your child to talk, walk, and use the restroom by themselves? It was you and your spouse, of course. So, if you could teach them those skills, why wouldn't you be qualified to teach them how to read or do math?

It is said by nay-sayers that teaching a child is too difficult and that we are unqualified to do it. What is found to be more difficult is the thought of having to teach 18-20 young children several subjects all in one day. It is a difficult job; teaching one child to read is not. It can be done!

If you are wanted to homeschool, another argument you might hear by nay-sayers is that children need socialization. I'm not sure I want my children to learn all the things they learn at school and I am sure you feel the same way. Not all lessons are given by the teachers but rather are learned as the result of being with other children.

95% of homeschooled children are better socialized than the children in public schools. Homeschooled children can carry on intelligent conversations with people of all ages besides being able to deal with their peers. Public schools are not true to life and create artificial societies. There isn't any time at any point in your life that you're going to deal with people all your age. It won't happen, and it just doesn't happen, either.

These are just a few of the comments that you'll likely hear as you are researching the possibility of homeschooling your child. All I can say is that it's okay if you don't know everything you're told you need to know. Take that as an opportunity to learn right along side your child. Since you want what is best for your child, you will be giving them the opportunity to learn at their own pace and concentrate on the things they are interested in learning.

Winning Scholarships: Here's How

By Mary Poodel

It is no secret that attending college can be expensive. Whether you have been saving up money to pay for your college tuition, or you have little money to put towards your education, it can be hard figuring out how you are going to pay your tuition bill each semester.

No matter how much your college tuition bill is, there are resources available to help with the cost. One great option available to help with the cost of college is the option of using college scholarships.

College scholarships are good alternatives to student loans because you will not have to pay the money back. There are also almost countless scholarship available, so your chances of being awarded one or more are pretty good.

The length of the college scholarship application process can depend a great deal on the type of scholarship that you are applying for. Most scholarships require that you complete an application and some even require you to go through an interview process.

One way to increase your chances of being chosen as the recipient of a college scholarship is to thoroughly read the application before completing and submitting it. Most scholarships have stipulations on who can apply, so be sure that you meet all of the qualifications before taking the time to complete the application. Also, be sure that you fully answer each question in the application before submitting it.

If you are involved in any extracurricular activities, be sure to list them on your application. Scholarship reviewers like to see what accomplishments and awards you have received, so list all that you can think of on the application.

If you are applying for multiple college scholarships, be sure to vary your application responses and application letters. The people that will be reviewing the scholarship applicants will likely have read many applications and will be able to spot a generic application letter that was used in several applications.

You have many qualifications that set you apart from the other candidates, so be sure to highlight them in your application. The scholarship reviewers want to know what makes you unique and if you can properly showcase this in your application letter, they will be more likely to choose you as the recipient of the scholarship.

Successful College and Graduate School Interviews

By Daniel Z. Kane

Forty or fifty years ago, it was not uncommon for selective colleges, universities and graduate schools to require all applicants to complete an interview with a staff member or alumnus.

Today, far fewer institutions mandate an interview, but a significant number do. And, although other institutions do not use the word "interview", they may evaluate applicants after meeting with them. In fact, at some institutions, even current students who come into contact with applicants may formally or informally record their opinions of them.

You would be well advised to assume that anything you say to an institutional representative may influence your admission decision. Here are ten ways to help yourself.

1. Never indicate that a college or university is a back up choice. Institutions are far more likely to admit a student who is expected to enroll if admitted.

2. Act confidently and speak confidently about wanting to continue your education, your chosen field of study, and the degree program to which you are applying. Colleges, and especially graduate schools, are more likely to admit students without doubts. Do not speak with them about yours...that is what friends and family are for.

3. Dress appropriately for all meetings with institutional representatives. Would you believe I know of examples of students being denied admission because of inappropriate dress? I do.

4. Read the printed literature and websites of the institutions to which you are sending applications. Do not brand yourself as lazy by asking a question which can be answered after five minutes on the college/university website.

5. Be aware that anything you say, including your comments to student tour guides or interviewers, may influence whether or not you are offered admission.

6. Send thank you notes to anyone who spends significant time with you. The less generic they sound, the better.

7. Feel free to bring immediate family members with you on campus visits. But, be sure they understand that they should not try to "sell" you or speak for you. There are few things admissions personnel or faculty find more objectionable.

8. Have a few good questions ready, preferably those which will demonstrate your interest and/or depth of thought.

9. Do not hard sell yourself. Humility and self-effacement are valued in the academic community.

10. Speak with and meet with representatives of your least favorite institutions first so you will be more practiced when you interview for your top choices.

Good interviewing is, more than anything else, applying common sense, active listening skills, and common courtesy. Good luck.

Writing Winning College Admissions Essays

By Daniel Z. Kane

There are several factors, including grades and test scores, which are far more important to admissions committees than essays. But, particularly at top tier institutions, essays can make the difference between a student getting a thick or a thin envelope from the admissions office.

In fact, some colleges use essays merely to ensure that applicants can write acceptably. The Harvard's, Yale's, and Princeton's of the world may view essays with far more discerning eyes.

Almost never will an essay, however good, compensate for sub par academic achievement. And, offering excuses for mediocre academic performance is seldom a good idea. As a professor with whom I served on an admissions committee used to say, "Everyone's grandmother dies". Promising to earn a 4.0 GPA, score touchdowns, or become a wealthy and generous alumnus will not help either.

What a good essay can do, however, is give you a chance to talk to an admissions committee. Take advantage of it by:

1. Expressing yourself to the best of your ability. Write, rewrite and edit until you are fully satisfied with the result. Then, ask someone who writes well to critique your work and make a final revision.

2. Talking about yourself honestly. In fact, talking about an instance in which you learned from a mistake or by falling short of a goal may well make you both more likeable and more credible (especially if there is a "happy ending").

3. Taking great care to avoid sounding boastful while outlining any major accomplishments which do not appear on your other application materials.

5. Staying away from the kinds of statements beauty queens make about their love of America, God, and humanity.

It is not necessary to go for the home run. Just remember the tips listed above and a few of the basics; write clearly and thoughtfully, be honest, demonstrate insight, and know your audience.

Seek the help from others. When in doubt about anything dealing with homeschooling, seek the advice from those who have been homeschooling for longer than you. Even though they may not have dealt with exactly what you're dealing with, chances are they will be able to give you advice or point you in the right direction. Slowing Economy Shuts Out Many Needing Student Loans

By Ronaldo Q Cacheezey

United States college students the latest victims as the credit crisis gets worse and funds for borrowing disappears. American students who need a student loan to pay their way through college, are starting to have a tough time accessing funds. A large amount of public and private college aid lenders are cutting back or ending the practice of giving out funds for college, affected by the credit squeeze and the declining profit of federal government backed loans for education.

Word of a state agency pulling out of providing funds, has surfaced. This will affect 100 colleges and universities alone, and the fear exists that many more will become similarly affected. The reason behind this drastic move is cited as being the credit squeeze.

Traditionally, funds for college have been backed by some of the major US banks, including JP Morgan, Sachs Goldman and Citibank. These banks will no longer be supporting the auction system that allocated resources for college aid. There are also predictions that financial assistance will become more pricey.

The biggest scheme that provides college loans is the Federal government-backed student loan scheme, providing loans to means-tested students. Students mainly use these loans to pay for tuition and then seek a private loan to cover their additional expenses. It is these private loans that are set to become more difficult to find, although it looks as though companies are still supplying funds for the government scheme.

The main effect of this problem will be felt by low income families and those with a poor credit rating. There are parents who have been negatively affected by the mortgage crisis who have college aged children. These young people could find themselves disallowed by loan providers because of the parents' low credit score.

An estimated 100,000 college students will no longer qualify for federal government or private company loans this year because of the problem of poor credit ratings. This situation adds to the reduction in the number of companies providing student loans to make a grim future for some aspiring college students.

For those who are caught between a rock and hard place with this credit crisis, a trip to your schools financial aid department is in order. They will be able to steer you in the right direction to find student aid assistance.

Just remember, don't get discouraged. If you can't get a hundred percent of your college needs financed, you may have to cut back on classes and get a full or part time job and work your way through college. I know, this isn't popular with the kids today, it's still one of the best ways to come out of College with not student loan debt.

Environmentally Friendly Septic Tank

By Amy Nutt

The environment is very important for the fact that it is our home. It is also responsible for the food that we eat, the water we drink, and the air we breathe. That is why it is very important that we take care of it to the best of our ability. One way to do that is by having an environmentally friendly septic tank.

Having an environmentally friendly septic tank keeps a lot of harmful elements from being released into the ground. This prevents groundwater from being contaminated, protects plants, and protects animals. In other words, having a sound septic tank can protect the ecosystem in your area. There is also the fact that wastewater treatment requires much less energy than the traditional method.

Pumping septic tanks

One of the most irritating aspects of having septic tanks is the need to pump it regularly. It is recommended by experts that a 1,000 gallon tank be pumped every three to five years. That may not seem like something that is too difficult to do, but it actually is. And some individuals do not even get around to pumping their septic tank. They completely forget that they are supposed to do this. This can later lead to the septic tank leaking, which can cause a wide range of environment issues, in addition to an incredible mess.

However, there is a way to stretch the time in between septic tank pumpings and that is by having an environmentally system called a FAST system. Waste water treatment is also taken to a completely different level.

What the FAST system does is increases how much solid waste is destroyed. Bacteria are responsible for this destruction. As for what FAST stands for, it stands for Fixed Activated Sludge Treatment. What this system does is create the perfect environment in which bacteria can naturally decompose the waste in the system. As a matter of fact, it eats away at most of the waste that makes its way into the system, making wastewater treatment much easier.

How do FAST systems work?

The bacteria in a FAST system are stored in a reactor chamber that is under the ground. This reactor chamber is self-cleaning and it is aerated. That way, optimal bacteria growth is achieved. Because of this bacteria growth, anywhere between 90% and 95% of the solid waste that enters the septic system is completely destroyed and wastewater treatment is minimal.

Because more waste is destroyed, you do not have to worry about the mess of pumping your septic system often at all. This also saves you a lot of money because many individuals pay professionals to take care of the pumping of their septic tanks. This can become expensive, especially if any complications come about.

Preventing nitrogen contamination

FAST septic tanks can help avoid nitrogen contamination. This is because the byproduct that is produced by the natural processes that occur within septic tanks is nitrogen. When the nitrogen level becomes too high, it can seep into groundwater and make its way into human drinking water. The FAST system keeps this from happening. These septic tanks keep this from happening because the bacteria housed within the septic tank neutralize much of that nitrogen.

It is important that you ensure the functionality of the bacteria in FAST septic tanks, though. One way to do this is to avoid sending too many household cleaners down the drain. When you do this, you can kill the bacteria and compromise the effectiveness of the bacteria. When the bacterias effectiveness is compromised, nitrogen levels can climb and the breakdown of solid waste may be reduced.

So if you are all about saving money and saving the environment, environmentally friendly septic tanks can make an incredible difference in your life and in the world.

Finish College Fast Following A Few Simple Steps

By Jenny Willow

After high school many people dream of going to college for the next several years, meeting lots of life long friends and going to a lot of parties. That reality is not the case for everyone though. It costs money and takes time for that lifestyle and many people need to finish college fast to earn a degree and get out in the real world supporting them and their family.

For example a person working a fulltime job to support their family would not likely being able to quit working in order to finish their degree. Or someone in the Navy or other military service who's duty does not allow them to be close to a college. Although even if they were close to a college since they are in the military they would not be able to go to school fulltime most likely.

Whatever the reason for not being able to go to college fulltime to finish a degree there are other options to consider. So yes the traditional experience of going to college may not happen fully or at all, but at least it is possible to still complete a degree and get on with your professional working life as quick as possible.

Having some freedom or flexibility to earn a college degree via a distance based or online degree program is an option to consider.

To finish as fast as you can it may require additional steps as well. In case you are not aware there are tests that if you successfully pass them (and there are study guides) you may not be required to then complete certain college classes. Completing one or several of these tests could save you money and time.

One of these tests is called CLEP. This stands for College-Level Examination Program. This program can be used for both college admissions and some colleges let you earn up to 12 credit hours for each CLEP exam. Each college has different rules so you will want to check with the one you will earn your degree from first to make sure they accept CLEP exams for college credits.

There are several different CLEP exams such as English Composition, Analyzing and Interpreting Literature, Western Civilization I & II, Human Growth and Development, and more.

Hopefully completing your college education as fast as possible may seem more doable now. With a combination of finishing CLEP exams along with online colleges (assuming they accept CLEP) you may be able to finish your degree fast and get on with your professional career.

Continuing Care: Is It Right For You?

By Amy Nutt

Not everyone is cut out to pursue a career in continuing care. It requires a special temperament and personality to withstand the unique challenges and pressures that the caregiver will be subjected to. So how do you know if you have the right personality for the job, preferably before you start down this career path? This is an area where personality and ability are both extremely important.

Many medical professionals avoid this area because it requires a dedication that just doesn`t suit everyone. Looking after someone for a long period of time just isn`t the right way to go for everyone, so you`ll want to be sure that it`s the right path for you. There are a few characteristics that are common throughout the continuing care community. If you have these, then chances are, this is the right line of work for you.

Compassion: Without this, you`ll fail. It takes a compassionate heart to spend long hours caring for someone who is unable to look after themselves. If you have always enjoyed helping people and feeling useful, then this is a good indication that you`ll enjoy enrolling in a continuing care program.

Strength: Not just physical, though this is quite useful, as well, when you are lifting a full grown adult into the tub. However, mental strength is also necessary. You need to be able to deal with situations that may not be very comfortable, for you or the patient. It can be embarrassing for a teen boy to be helped onto the toilet, for example, and you`ll need to deal with things like this on a daily basis.

Patience: If you are an impatient person, chances are long term care isn`t a good place to work. This is a career that requires long hours of doing very little, simply being present in case your patient needs help. It can involve repetitive tasks, like checking heart rate and blood pressure, reading the same book over and over and hours doing tasks that would normally take a few minutes, like feeding a patient or helping someone get from one room to another. Patience is essential.

Friendliness: Continuing care involves long periods of time spent with the same patient. Unlike regular hospital care where you only see a patient for a few hours or days and never really get to know them, this career will leave you with more than enough time to get to know the people you work with. A callous attitude won`t work well, though many patients, particularly those in hospice care, will be resistant to you. A friendly attitude can go a long ways.

It can be mentally and physically exhausting working with people in long term care. You`ll be working with the elderly, the terminally ill and those who have been incapacitated in some way. It can take a toll on your personal life if you aren`t careful, so you also need to know when to take a break. You won`t be able to continue indefinitely and it`s important to be able to separate work from personal life.

Continuing care is not the ideal career for everyone. However, if you are compassionate, friendly and strong mentally and physically, with the ability to separate the life you lead on your off hours from your work, then it could be a good fit for you. The world needs people who are willing to participate in long term care, so this is an area that will always be open to more workers. It`s a good field to go into if you find that you have the right personality.

Setting Up Your College Dorm Room

By Silvia Jens

College is usually most people's first time away from home. Therefore it's almost like starting from scratch, setting up a new home. No doubt you're excited and a little apprehensive as well. The fact that you're usually on a shoe string budget and have to put up with strange companions doesn't help either. Moving day just got so much better.

The first thing to when you move in to your dorm room is to settle in and hang out a little with your dorm mates. You also need to take a good look at the room itself - how large it is, what you can fit in it, what you might have to sacrifice, how much space you can have to yourself, how much you might have to share, etc, will all need to be taken into account. Talking things out with your dorm mate(s) is important since you will be co-habiting and any changes you make is going to affect them as well and vice versa. So in the first few days it makes good sense to set some ground rules as to how much personal stuff each one of you can stock, and how space sharing is going to work.

Once you've figured out what you can store and what you can't, you need things to store it in. Your trunks can work well to store your clothes for a decent amount of time. IF your dorm has a closet, you can work on sharing it - decide how many shelves to each person. If your trunk is too large, storing them underneath the bed is the best option. In case you find this a messy job try folding your clothes in neat piles in a milk or plastic crate, covering it with newspaper and then pushing it underneath the bed.

You might have to get new bedding - mattresses for example. Before buying new ones check with the college and see if they supply any at a discount. If you have to buy it yourself - don't spend too much. A twin feather bed would be quite enough. Ensure it is cheap, but good quality as a good night's sleep is important. If you have some cash to spare you could also invest in a good futon mattress. Dorm beds are usually large and a futon mattress can be very comfortable.

You might want just one desk to share, or if you're lucky you may get two. If you have separate ones, the best way to keep your property yours is to label everything (a label maker is an essential buy). You can also get real cheap CD racks, book racks and containers for all your stationary, online. Wal-Mart may be easy, but scouting around online will get you some discount. A laptop will be a necessary expense - however the internet connection may not so check with your college for Wi-Fi access. If they don't provide it, you may want to get an internet connection on a sharing basis with your room mate. A desk lamp is another basic necessity. Again, check with your college if they provide one or buy one off a garage sale.

Reverse Phone Number Membershps -- Getting your Money's Worth

By Hans Hisbon

Having a subscription to a reverse phone number lookup service allows you to have information that only was once available to a select few, namely governement officials such as police officers and the like. Be sure to get the most out of what you are paying for.

If you are one of those people who write down numbers and do not attach a name to it, no need to worry when you have your reverse phone number membership. You do not even have to bother recording a name if you do not want to, simply write down the number and look it up later. You most likely will recognize the name. If you are a busy salesperson and want to do some research on your customers first, a very good way to do this is lookup the number they gave you. Are they telling you the truth about where they live? An easy phone number lookup often does the trick. Many of the subscriptions will give you other information as well, such as an age an address. It can be amazing the information that is stored in computers these days.

Who does not get unwanted or unsolicted telephone calls, especially on your cell phone? Most cell phones do not display the name of the person that is calling you, unless it is already stored in your phone book's memory. It is easy to go through your call log and see who all those telephone numbers belong to with your membership. If you are trying to find a cell phone number, and who it belongs to, most memberships will allow you to do this as well, be sure to take advantage of it.

It is never a bad idea to raise an eyebrow when dealing with classified ads. Prevent yourself or loved ones from becoming victims. Lookup the number in the classified ad and compare it to what they are telling you, if it does not ad up, ask questions. If you still feel uncomfortable, do not go. You could also use your membership to just be nosey and see if you are interested in the item in the ad. For example, if it is a car, you could do a reverse lookup, go by and see if you are interested in the car, then call upon the owners. It is a good way to save a lot of time, especially if you are shy.

It is especially important in today's world to gain as much information as possible. You can Learn To Make Money Online

By Abigail Hansen

So often I come across websites that claim they can teach you to make money online for free. Most people although skeptical, will follow the advice on the site because they are desperate to find answers.

Is it really possible to learn to make money online for free? I don't think so. If you had spent time and effort to find a way to make real money, would you tell the rest of the world how to do it? All you would be doing is to create competition and shrink your own earnings

Anyone who is really making money online is going to keep their secrets to themselves. There is a huge competition for business online and the only people who are going to succeed are those who find their own niches. These are the one who will really succeed.

Some people who are successful in the online world are willing to impart their knowledge to learners, but they will charge a high price. Individual coaching can cost thousands of dollars and there is never a guarantee of success, indeed there is often no success at all.

What is the secret? How can you learn to make money online? It lies somewhere in the middle. Your best bet is to find someone who will give you some help and be kind enough to keep his charges down. You need to be talking of about $100 up front with very little follow on cost.

There are a lot of eBooks online that teach some very valuable information, but there is also a lot of rubbish out there that isn't worth your time or your money. Before dropping money on an eBook to learn to make money online, consider your source. Make sure they know what they're talking about.

You will have to take risks. Everyone who has ever succeeded in an online business has failed before. If you dont take the chance, you cant win, that's the way life is. You will make mistakes, we all have, but you must learn from them and not make the same mistake again. You can only learn so much from others, at some stage you will need to go your own way and work with what succeeds for you.

Remember the saying; if it's priced at a penny, it is only worth a penny. You have to be man enough to put some money and effort into it, but dont spend your fortune before you make it.

How to Write a great Paragraph for Your Story.

By Rolland Arthur

The formal definition of an intro is a brief introductory passage. What is important is that you get the story right; it needs to encapsulate the essence or spirit of your overall point, try communicating through example. Capturing the essence is not enough; if nobody reads far enough to grasp the main point of the story then its purpose is lost.

The important point about writing an intro is that it must be short. When you write a headline and then put content below it, your reader will expect the headline to correspond to the story below. Readers really won't give much time to an intro which talks about sports, when the headline talks about vacations.

Even if the intro, at its end, would have captured the essence of what the author was trying to say. Ask yourself; is it short enough that a reader won't lose patience before the writing returns to the topic at hand?

In this piece above, you can see that the intro is pretty short. This is the kind of intro that works with the audience because the reader is aware of what they are reading and absorbing it fully. The reader knows what the article is about in a broad sense and therefore they know what to expect inside the story.

Starting with a long introduction that appears to bear no relevance to the headline is the number one killer of otherwise good writing.

Another point is when you use anecdotes. You should let your reader know before-hand how your anecdote relates to your topic before you tell it to them, else the reader will leave out your topic, even before you begin to elaborate your point.

In short, what is necessary is using less words in bring out a perfect story essence. The aim of an introduction is to out forth your subject in a broader and more general sense.

If you want to do this right, you have to think about your intro in a broader sense and include those details which bring this out and leave out those that don't. So, if you have extra details such as dates, names, descriptions and diversions but which are not really necessary for the essence of the anecdote, do not mention them as they will only distract the reader.

Look into my site mentioned in the Author field to find out more details about how to write a impressive introduction and also about my inspiration for writing this article.

In order to gain reader attention, you have to write out a good introductory passage by giving it that much thought and consideration. It is how you present the introduction that leads the rest of the story for the reader. So, think about our intro carefully and only put into it those details which help to do this and leave out those that don't.

NicheBlueprint Sections One-Two - Is the Material of Use?

By Jim Smile

In this article we are going to look at modules one and two, which is week 1 of Tim Godfrey and Steve Clayton's Niche Blueprint E-Commerce Training Course.

With module one you will be introduced to the niche blueprint program. Each and every module from 2 to 9 will have a brief introduction here and you will also be told what the expectations for the program are as well as be given information on what you should have done by the end of each module in the program.

This module includes three PDF's which have their own goal sheets, quick start flowchart and an overview. It also has one video which is an introduction to how it will work, how the content will be delivered and how you make money with a niche blueprint store.

The second module is about how to find and choose your niche. It shows you how to come up with ideas for your E commerce store by brainstorming and research. By the end of this module you should have your top idea and be able to begin work on your store.

Included within module two are four PDF's full of brainstorming resources, the modules goal sheet and a market research process chart. Additionally you will find free videos dedicated to teaching you how to properly research each market you come across and then define whether or not they are really suitable for the e-commerce model.

These modules are crystal clear and in them Steve Clayton does an excellent job of leading you, with step-by-step instructions on how to find your niche e-commerce store ideas.

I can see that especially in the case of newcomers these videos will be very helpful, the clarity offered really does go far beyond the norm and so should make it that much easier for people to be successful.

What is particularly good about this module is that not only are you given crystal clear instructions you are also given the tools to carry out what you learn. You see for the market research you need to carry out in this module you are provided with a branded copy of an excellent piece of software called market Samurai.

Market Samurai is my main keyword research tool. My colleague and I use this tool every day for over 95% of our keyword and market research.

Steve Clayton in two of the videos in this module gives a very clear and precise methodology with specific search criteria to use in market Samurai for finding your target keyword niche blueprint e-commerce store ideas.

He tells you the criteria necessary for these keywords and then he shows you on-screen exactly how it's done. There's nothing like seeing an expert like Steve Clayton coming up with these keywords right in front of you.

I have no doubt that pretty much anyone who watches these videos will learn how to come up with highly profitable niches they can build web e-commerce stores around.

LJ James Biker Movie : Guardians of Evil

By LJ James

GUARDIANS OF EVIL (L.J.s Biker Movie Idea)

I have been writing about Biker rights andunity for years. I have a few Biker book, Movie and even Biker Cartoon ideas. (Don't forget my Biker radio Show at BikerLowdown.com) Because I have to be careful about posting them on-line so they do not get stolen I haven't posted any. This is a very small part and just the beginning of a story I have been working on. It takes place in a world where the Government and the Police have become completely Corrupt. All the Motorcycle Clubs had been framed and blamed by the police for all the Crime and problems to cover and shift everyone's attention from what our Government had been up to. When everything had fallen apart and America had fallen into the hands of the corrupt and Criminals where now running everything, There was no one left to turn to. The Bikers the world had been told to fear, Who had been shown as the ones who where evil, Decided it was time to turn the tables, The became the Guardians of the innocent and started the Motorcycle Club GUARDIANS OF EVIL in order to start to bring Justice back to the world. The idea of the character of Kyle is something along the lines of a mix of Dartanian in the three Musketeers and a young Bruce Wayne from Batman . He will become one of them, But first he must learn, And the Adventure Begins!!!

GUARDIANS OF EVIL:Scene 1 The Sky was dark and cloudy and a slight mist of rain started to fall on Kyle Star Jr's face mixing with the tears that fell freely from his dark brown eyes, How appropriate though Kyle as he looked over the freshly dug hole that his fathers casket had been lowered into just hours before. With no raincoat or umbrella He was soon soaked and his shoulder length brown hair clung to his face. Everyone else had left long ago, his and his fathers, Friends Family and Fans had Hugged him and said things to Kyle to comfort him but they where like ghosts to him an he felt and heard nothing of what they said. Kyle looked around the cemetery and saw there where still 3 News vans there waiting. He knew they would want to talk to him, After all he was the son of the worlds greatest Motorcycle racer an at 6ft 160 lbs he was the spitting image of his late Father. He knew now that his Father was gone all everyone wanted to know was if He would be taking his Fathers place on the Race Track! Let them wait though Kyle, as he could not bear to leave his Fathers graveside yet. He knew that when he left the graveside the life he had once known would be gone forever. His father had been everything to him. His best Friend, his Mentor and his Hero. Kyle had never known his Mother an now at just 18 years old he found himself alone and on his own. The whole World had seen his Father die on the racetrack that day as he raced that one last time. He was far ahead in the lead and no others in the race where even close to him when He suddenly "lost control" of his motorcycle Crashing into the wall at close to 200 Miles an hour. Kyle had ran to help his Father but there was nothing he or anyone could do, A legend was gone Kyle Star Sr had died instantly!

Kyle Heard a voice whisper his name bringing him out of his dream like state. He looked up to see the Reporters face; he had seen her many times before on TV. She was not just any reporter but some well known big shot. She had interviewed Kyle's Father more then once over the many years of his racing career, but at this moment she was just another Ghost to Kyle. What do you want he asked her? Kyle I'm sorry to bother you at this very sad time She said. But the world wants to know what you are going to do next after your father's accident, Will you take his place? Will you race? Kyle's faced turned red his eyes grew wide, he looked different even his voice seemed to change as he looked at her and said. The crash was NO Accident My Father was Murdered and I Know who is responsible! As Kyle looked straight into the Camera he spoke words that he would live to regret, "I will be coming for you!" Turning and looking at the reporter Kyle shouted "How's that for an exclusive" Then he turned and walked away as the sky opened up and the rain started to come down hard!

Scene 2 The Taxi Pulled up in front of the bar and Kyle threw a handful of cash at the driver not even Bothering to count it. It had been six Months since his fathers Funeral and the man who stepped out of the Cab looked very little like the Man who had cried for hours by his Fathers graveside. Kyle now looked mean and rough a short beard on his face and his uncombed hair was covered by a Black dew-rag. The suit he had worn at his fathers funeral was now replaced with a t-shirt, leather vest, Blue jeans and work Boots. Kyle looked at the run down looking bar on the corner called "The Hoggs Penn" A clever play on The old Harley Nic Name, He though to himself. He saw about 20 Bikes parked out front, Most of them where Harley's But he could see a few other Brands mixed in with the pack. This is it he though my fathers Killer is inside and soon one of us will be dead. He could hear the song Welcome to the Jungle By Guns an Roses blasting from the Juke box inside as he walked up to the door, opened it an walked inside. There was a large dirty looking Biker working the door in a cut off T-shirt with some Bike shops name on it. The Guys arms where Huge and covered in Tattoos. You got some ID there boy? He asked Kyle. How's this? Kyle asked as he Placed a one Hundred dollar Bill on the table next to the Man. Looks good to me he said with a Smile as he put the cash in his pocket. Have fun JR he laughed as Kyle looked around the loud Smokey bar. The walls where covered in Biker posters and Hundreds of different stickers from Bike Shops, other Bars and Club Support stickers. The place was packed with many large Bikers; some had patches on their back showing they belonged to one club or another. There where five really great looking girls in very tight skimpy outfits Dancing on the Bar, on a different night in a different time I might have really enjoyed this place he though, as the first smile in a long time crossed his face. The smile only lasted a second as some drunk walked into him growling "watch where I'm walking boy" as he went past walking to the back of the bar heading towards the bathroom.

Kyle started thinking maybe I'm in over my head here as he saw most of these Bikers where much larger then him. One large Biker standing by the corner of the bar really stood out to Kyle, The guy had to be at least 6'ft 10in tall and over 300 lbs all of it muscle, he was wearing a long Black leather trench coat that went to about an inch from the floor, He had long golden blond hair that made him standout even more in the dark bar. Kyle felt as if this man was trying to warn him with his eyes. Kyle suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder and was spun around, he felt the wind get knocked out of him as he was punched in the gut harder then he had though possible. Four large Bikers grabbed him and pulled him towards two large doors in the back of the Bar. One of the Men kicked open the doors that lead to an alley out back. They dragged Kyle threw the doors and then tossed him to the ground. As he looked up he saw a large muscular Bald Black man about 6ft 2inches tall, wearing a black leather vest way to small for him. He had no shirt on underneath showing the world just how many muscles he had, lighting a cigar. He smiled at Kyle and then kicked him hard in his gut knocking the wind out of him once more. Boy you are about to learn a very valuable life lesson, unfortunately you isn't going to live long enough for it to do you no good! Boy you never tell your enemy you are coming for him! An you go an do it on National TV. What was you thinking? Yeah said Kyle while trying to catch his breath. I realized that was probably not a good idea about two seconds after I did it. Kyle got a very serious look on his face as he said; I'm here to kill you Bob! You know that Right? Kyle stood up and pulled out a gun with the speed of an old west gun fighter. Badass Bob huh? How bad you feel right now with a Gun pointed at your head? Actually Boy I feel just fine! A split second later before Kyle could pull the trigger he found himself back on the ground with a large throbbing bump on the back of his head, one of Bob's men had hit him hard with a crowbar. Kyle felt himself slowly passing out and the world going black around him, He could see Bob and his men standing over him smiling, they all had Guns in their hands. This is it Kyle though to himself now I die and my Fathers killer goes free! Just don't seem right, where is the Justice in this world? Just Before the world went completely black and Kyle passed out, He could have sworn he saw a streak of Gold pass overhead and heard the sounds of someone fighting!

Scene 3 As Kyle woke he could feel a throbbing in his head,He could feel a large bump with his hand on the back of his head where he had been hit. He was laying on a couch in a room that was very bright. As he rolled over to look around the room he spoke the words "Where am I". He was Surprised when he got the answer, Your still in the land of the living, So I would not worry about anything else right now! As Kyle looked to see who had spoken the words, he could see it was the large Golden haired man he had thought was warning him at the Bar. How to Choose a Paralegal School

By Amy Nutt

Going to school is always a wise investment into your future as it raises your value in the workplace significantly. Upon graduation, it can also increase your earning potential as graduates earn more money on average than those without degrees.

The hard part of going to school however, is finding the right university. To start, you should begin with the type of career you desire to get into. With hundred of choices, the opportunities can seem limitless and daunting simultaneously.

A growing industry with tons of promise is the paralegal field. There are even online courses that offer fairly intensive curriculums for this extremely important vocation. Before you sign on the dotted line of a college registration form however, you may wish to look into what a paralegal school has to offer you that can help you make positive strides in your chosen profession upon graduation.

School Accreditation

In essence, accreditation means that the course as well as the school is recognized in the education industry. Despite school accreditation being extremely important, many people will sign up for courses at an institution without checking the background of the college first. This can be foolhardy since it could very well mean having to start over should you need to transfer schools for any reason. Also, many government programs, like aid financial assistance will only go to schools that are accredited. Likewise, employers who contribute to the tuition of an employee won't be able to do so if the school lacks accreditation.

It is extremely imperative then, to make sure the paralegal school you choose has accredited courses and class work as well as being accredited itself.

Up-to-date training

If you desire to get training in the paralegal field you want the most up to date training available today. It won't do you any good to learn from an obsolete book or course plans, especially in an ever evolving field like the paralegal one.

Modern day paralegals must learn how to conduct interviews, evaluate and draft important and legal documentation, and gather relevant information on court cases. They must also act as something of a researcher, looking for relevant information that may be crucial to the law firm's cases.

Many of these nuances cannot be taught from a book so it is imperative that the training received in this field is hands on, intuitive and expansive.

National reputation

If you mention the school you wish to go to and receive a blank look, it may be time to reconsider the school. This is largely due to the fact that employers place a lot of on name recognition. When a potential hiring company hears the name of your school they are invariably going to go through their mental rolodex to ferret out preconceived ideas of the schools merit. A school with a bad reputation will hardly gain any respect and in fact, could be counterproductive, causing you to lose the interest of people who could open the door for you.

This is why it pays to check into the reputation of the paralegal schools you plan to go to so you can be assured of its viability in this regard.

Job placement

Not all colleges and universities offer job placement program and some of them may have limitations. If you are being enticed by the prospect of job placement after graduation, read the fine print and asks questions. There may be so many stipulations in regards to placement the options may as well not even be offered.

Investigate all your options when it comes to a top notch paralegal school and leave no stone unturned. With the right mindset, you should be able to locate a wonderful college, earn your degree and get started in little to no time in a rewarding and challenging career.

By Roy Sencio

You don't need film school to be a director; acting is about talent not training. You hear these statements all the time when you work around young people, many of whom want to break into the film industry. They are pretty much a myth these days. If you want to direct you need proper training in a film director school and if you want to act you had best pack yourself off to a reputable acting school.

Like any good trade, film making needs good training so choosing the correct film production school for your needs has become vital.

If you doubt this you need to ask yourself a question; what is my plan for getting my foot in the door of the film world? If you happen to have some strong connections in the film industry then you are very lucky and may well actually be able to get a start without the formal training of filmmaking school.
