Home Schooling Information.

By Owen Jones

Home schooling or homeschooling, if you like (in fact, you even see it hyphenated, as in home-schooling) has been about for about 30 years now, although, of course it was all people had before state intervention in education. Out of the way rural places in huge countries like the USA, Canada and Australia still have to rely on home schooling to a great degree, although it is less difficult now with the wide-spread use of radio, television and the Internet. Video cassettes also have an important role, as do books still.

However, home schooling has become very popular in the cities as an alternative to inner city public schools, which are frequently seen as hotbeds of upheaval, violence and drugs, especially by the middle classes and not without some due reason, to be honest. Nonetheless, there are also other valid reasons for choosing home schooling, which we will go into later.

First, it must be pointed out that the decision to go for home schooling has to be a family one. This is because it will turn "normal family life" on its head and place an added monetary strain on the family purse. For instance, one parent will have to cease working. This cannot be allowed to be a cause of resentment, or both parents could take part-time employment and share the children's educational time. Whichever way you decide, you will not have two full-time incomes any longer. Working from home on the Internet could be a partial solution here.

Home schooling will also upset everyone's social life. So, the parents' social life is restricted by not seeing work mates every day, but so is little Johnny's, particularly if he has already spent some time in a normal classroom. He won't see his friends from class as much and they may drift away from him or even be angry with him.

On the plus side is that the family will become a lot stronger as a unit by studying together at home schooling. Both parents will have a complete knowledge of what their child is learning and will be learning. While maintaining a broad-spectrum education, you may however opt to focus on aspects of, say, history or science, that particularly interest your child. It allows you the freedom to match your child's education to his or her own interests, something that state education cannot do well with large classes. Your child will also be less under the influence of the rowdier elements in school and be able to concentrate more on studying.

A note of caution could be useful at this point. Do not be tempted to compel your child to progress too rapidly. It is tempting for a non-professional teacher-cum-proud parent in home schooling to push the child much harder than he can go. Don't forget that most pupils are just average. You must be on look out for signs of burn-out and stress at all times.

Once you decide to opt for home schooling, you will need to pick a basic programme, go through it yourself to familiarize yourself with it, buy or find in the library any supplementary books, videos and software, make a load of notes and stock up on pens and paper, folders, binders and filing cabinets and you'll be ready for your first term at home schooling.

Home Schooling and its Effects.

By Owen Jones

Home schooling or homeschooling, if you want (in deed, you even see it hyphenated, as in home-schooling) has been about for about 30 years now, although, of course it was all parents had before state involvement in education. Remote thinly-populated places in large countries like the USA, Canada and Australia still have to rely on home schooling to a large degree, although it is less difficult now with the wide-spread use of radio, television and the Internet. Video packages also have an important role, as do books still.

Nevertheless, home schooling has become very popular in the cities as an alternative to urban public schools, which are often seen as hotbeds of upheaval, anger and narcotics, especially by the middle classes and not without some due reason, to be honest. Nonetheless, there are also other good reasons for deciding on home schooling, which we will go into at a later stage.

Firstly, it should be pointed out that the decision to go for home schooling has to be a family one. This is because it will toss "normal family life" on its head and place an added monetary burden on the family purse. For instance, one parent will need to cease work. This cannot be allowed to be a source of bad feeling, or both parents could take part-time jobs and share the children's educational time. Whichever way you go, you will not have two full-time incomes any more. Working from home on the Internet could be a partial help here.

Home schooling will also disrupt everyone's social life. So, the parents' social life is restricted by not seeing work colleagues every day, but so is little Johnny's, particularly if he has already spent some time in a normal classroom. He won't see his pals from class as much and they may drift away from him or even be angry with him.

On the positive side is that the family will become a lot stronger as a unit by working together at home schooling. Both parents will have a thorough understanding of what their child is learning and will be learning. While following a broad-spectrum education, you may nevertheless opt to focus on points of, say, history or science, that particularly interest your child. It allows you the freedom to tailor your child's education to his or her particular interests, something that state education cannot do well with over-sized classes. Your child will also come less under the influence of the rowdier elements in school and be able to concentrate more on studying.

A note of caution could be useful at this point. Do not be tempted to compel your child to progress too rapidly. It is tempting for a non-professional teacher-cum-proud parent in home schooling to push the child much harder than he can go. Don't forget that most pupils are just average. Prep Your Assets So FAFSA Doesn't Penalize You: Avoid Problems On The FAFSA Application

By Brandon Hansen

When you sill out your applications for federal student aid through the FAFSA application, there are many factors that you need to consider and be aware of to ensure you get the most money possible from the federal government. The calculations are detailed but if you know the secrets, you can easily position your assets to allow yourself the greatest chance of receiving the college funding that you deserve. In the following paragraphs I will layout some places to hold assets as well as some places to avoid.

To start out with, let's go through some of the areas where it is wise to keep your assets positioned. These are instruments that the FAFSA board does not include in their assessment. They include things like cash value life insurance policies, annuities, equity value in the primary home residence, the family farm, retirement accounts, personal assets and items such as household furniture and collections. Also, your 401K, IRA, SEP, Keogh, or any other type of retirement savings are safe from being counted as assets.

No let's talk about the accounts that will count as income for the student and the family. These are accounts that you want to avoid having a lot of money in them if you can help it. The FAFSA board will look at these assets as income and lower your eligibility for aid based on the amounts held in these types of accounts. They include accounts like: trusts, stocks, limited partnerships, stocks, money market accounts, all types of bonds, mutual funds, certificates of deposit, custodial accounts, investment properties and vacation homes, farm equipment and business assets and equipment. One way to help offset these accounts is by having a loan or mortgage outstanding on them, such as in the real estate and farm equipment.

Where trust funds and custodial accounts are concerned, the government will not assess the entire amount as income unless the account is the sole possession of either the student or parent. In cases where a trust or custodial account is in place for multiple people, a financial consultant may need to be involved in order to balance the amount of moneys belonging to the student and/or the parents. Once all disposable assets have been calculated by the FAFSA administrator, the next set of rules governing financial aid assessment will come into play. The federal law allows for an asset protection allowance to help ensure the future stability of the family's income.

There are several factors that go into the calculation to protect future stability of the family's income. Not only do they take into account the assessed income of the family, but also the age of the parent(s) both at the time of application and the projected graduation date. The older the parents, the better the allowance calculation. No matter how you structure your assets, be aware that they have to be in those accounts for at least 12 months prior to applying for college funding or filling out the FAFSA application. It is important to get the assets structured and in place with plenty of time prior to completion of the application.

Medical Diagnostic Sonography Degree Online

By Linda Matraz

Nearly everybody has viewed a Polaroid image of an expectant mother's soon to be born baby. These days it is practically a rite of passage for pregnant women to get a sonogram as a feature of their prenatal care. If you are captivated by this technology, you could be inclined to acquire a bachelor degree in medical diagnostic sonography. What can you do with a medical diagnostic sonography degree?

Medical diagnostic sonography is a quickly growing occupation that requires a bachelor's in sonography degree and taking and passing various licensing exams. Generally, hospitals demand medical diagnostic sonographers become licensed before they may work. Candidates can pass one of three exams to meet licensing requirements.

With a bachelor's level sonography degree, graduates may take the first level of the exams to become a registered diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS). This permits graduates to work in any area of sonography at an entry level. Three other examinations are more specialized. Successfully completing the registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer (RDCS) exam permits the graduate to specialize in cardiac sonography. Anyone who would like to specialize in veins and artery diagnostics have two choices: They can pass the RVT exam and become a registered vascular technologist or get an advanced degree and take the RPVI (registered physician vascular interpretation) exam.

The Bureaus of Labor and Statistics predicts that the future will be strong in the sonography field. Because sonographs are often a preferred procedure over radiology, this field is expected to have faster than average growth. This is great news for people seeking a sonography degree.

Just over half of college graduates with a bachelor's level sonography degree who pass the RDMS exam will work in hospitals and the remainder will find jobs with private physicians or in clinics. Licensed medical diagnostic sonographers can work in the general field or specialize in obstetrics, cardiology, abdominal or neurological areas of diagnostic sonographers. Overall, the future looks bright for people who earn a sonography degree, and the good news is you can earn your sonography degree online!

Build Your Own Wind Power Generators

By David Sullivan

Are you looking to get off the grid and stop depending on your power company for electricity? There is another way. The cheapest way right now is wind energy, and the best way to get it into your house is to do it yourself! You can save thousands of dollars.

Building your own wind generator into your home is easy. The rule of thumb is to find a place that is about 200-300ft from another obstacle or at least 20 ft higher. In North America the average wind speed is around 9m/s, which can give you a lot of power.

Wind power is a great source of renewable energy. It is much cheaper than solar power per Watt, as a wind turbine can generate 1000W while a single solar panel generates around 100 in daylight.

Turning the turning of the blades into electrical energy is accomplished by a DC motor which uses a magnet to drive current in coiled wire. You will have to buy one and place it in the body of your turbine - they cost only 50-100$ or so.

Another component of a wind power generator is the tower. You can either buy one or make one from scratch or recycle a tower. Old TV towers work great for this. You will also need a manual to work from to give you engineering plans to build the turbine correctly.

Some people have built their own 500 watt turbines using homemade wind blades, a bought DC motor, recycled TV tower and grid connector. These systems can be made for under $300 if you do it right, and done in less than a week. On the other hand, kits can be bought for several thousand dollars and ready made turbines can be bought for as much as $3000-$6000.

Wind power generators are actually very basic and don't require much maintenance if you create them correctly. You can find plans on the Internet to build your own fairly easily.

If you have a bit of land or a rooftop to place it on, some PVC, a DC motor and something to make a tower out of, you can put together a wind power generator with basic tools quite easily.

Essential Plastering Tips for Beginners

By Peter Stayley Jones

At first glance we may think that getting plaster onto your ceilings and walls is a pretty simple and straightforward task. It is the problem of achieving a smooth and flat finish that presents a serious challenge for most people. This can only be done after sufficient practice. As in all home repair and improvement activities, it is imperative that you allocate sufficient amount of time and effort learning how the task is performed before attempting to start on a real plastering job.

A critical aspect of the preparatory phase of the plastering job involves getting yourself organized by having all the required tools and materials within easy reach while working on the section requiring plastering. You have to account for the fast-setting properties of the skim plaster once it is already applied. This means that you have to immediately work on the applied skim plaster before it hardens and becomes unmanageable.

The only way to correct the plastering as soon as it hardens is through sanding, and your failure to immediately work on the surface the moment the plaster is applied will result to uneven and rough surface. This is the most common culprit in many of the failed plastering jobs by beginners. Thus, you have to ensure that you have all the tools and materials ready before starting the laying-on of the skim plaster. This includes mixing the right amount of skim plaster which is sufficient enough the cover one portion of the ceiling or partition that you are currently working on.

The first thing that beginners must do before starting any plastering job is to practice the proper mixing of the plaster. This is done by experimenting on a smaller amount of the plaster material until you achieve the perfect technique in mixing. In most cases, beginners end up with a poor quality plastering job primarily because of their failure to observe this important aspect in their preparations.

The ideal texture of a plaster mix ought to have the consistency of a thick cream and without any traces of lumping of the plaster. Dont make the mistake of immediately putting the plaster into your mixing bucket as you have to start by putting water first and slowly mixing it with small quantities of the plaster.

Next, thoroughly mix the lime plaster material using a mixing paddle in order to completely remove lumps of the plaster. Continue to add more lime plaster until you achieve the desired proportion of water and plaster mixture. It is vital that you invest in the specific kind of mixing paddle so that you can effectively achieve the right skimming plaster mixture consistency.

It is also crucial that you use the appropriate size of bucket for mixing the plaster. It is recommended that you use buckets that can at least accommodate one bag of skim plaster in one mixing session. This is very important as you definitely wont want to find yourself doing the same mixing process at the middle of a plaster laying-on. This is one of the most common mistakes made by beginners. Further, it is also necessary that you mix the correct amount of plaster sufficient enough to cover an entire section of your ceiling or wall that you are working on.

In mixing the required amount of skim plaster, it is essential that you use water that is clean and cold. Fill one third of the bucket with water and mix the skim plaster following the procedure that is outlined in this article. The ideal volume of the final mixture is usually twice that of the volume of water used.

Is It Always A Good Idea To Go To College?

By Sheila Johnson

Actually, this decision must be made much earlier, as in order to get into college you must apply and be accepted. It is the time in your life where you have to make some big decisions.

Some high school graduates have already set their eyes on college, while others want to immediately take on the bigger world and start working. College isn't for everyone but it is usually the right choice if you can afford it.

It is true that a college education will most likely open up some employment opportunities in the future and many employers require a degree from a university. Another reason in favour of the college route is that historically college graduates make more money than non-college graduates. How Should You Protect Your Products When You Sell Information?

By Stephen Beck

Prior to this article, I wrote about how there are a couple of different options that you can use to protect your products as you sell information. Using a membership site and requiring each person to log in is one method. Installing and using an ebook protection application is another method. You decide which one is best.

To find pdf protection software, do a search for either pdf protection or ebook protection to find different options. I personally believe that investing in this type of software is a wasted investment. The reason why is because your money and time is better invested in finding ways to sell more copies of your ebook than stopping people from trying to download your ebook for free. The money you spend on that type of software can be better spent on directing traffic to your website. Creating new products is a better way to spend your business building time. A membership site is a much better way to protect your information.

In my business model I start out by offering a $27 ebook to get the customer to do business with me. Those that buy the ebook are then introduced to my monthly audio program, for which I charge $19.97 a month. Doing this gives me control as to the quality of prospect that sees my monthly program because only paying customers are learning about it. In addition to that, I also have a gold membership that I offer for more money. This gold membership gives me the revenues that I need to cover the cost of my membership site application, known as AMember. AMember allows me to control who gets access to my website.

I am not overly concerned about protecting a $27 ebook because it is just not worth the effort. The price point makes it unnecessary. The way I prefer to handle it is to place a notice in the ebook letting the reader know it is not a free ebook and they should delete it if they downloaded it for free.

As for my monthly audio website program, my AMember software does the job. Having access to this type of program for a membership site or a physical or digital product is a great form of protection because everyone has to have account information in order to use it. This is why I go with this option as opposed to going with an ebook protector.

How Online High School Can Prevent Drop Outs

By Ed Desmond

Online school may have innovative answers to the pervasive problem of high school drop outs. While a virtual school or internet school may not have solutions for every complex problem that can cause dropping out of school, for many who need credit recovery and an alternative to public high school, online high school may offer our best hope.

There are two general categories of the causes of dropping out. These are home related problems, and school related problems. This article will look at the subcategories of drop out predictors and how online high school may address these.

In my view, the guidance that can be provided by a professional case manager would be highly beneficial as soon as a student begins to exhibit predictive signs of dropping out. Typical school counselors are given so many extraneous tasks that they have little time remaining to do actual intervention. When possible, parents should also play as strong role as well.

One area that has predicted drop outs is poor grades, and poor academic performance. Poor grades lead to poor self esteem, low peer acceptance, and discouragement for students. Online high school is private, and efficient and can allow the child to catch up. Many online schools are self paced, allowing the student to learn at his own rate.

Failure of one grade or more is also highly predictive of not attaining a diploma. The chances of leaving school before graduating can be more than 90% in those who have been held back grades. Grade retention results in his friends moving up without him, classes becoming repetitive and boring, and graduation slipping further away. The online option can be quite effective in catching the potential drop out.

One area where online high school is only partially effective is for serious behavior problems. When negative peer pressure is to blame, internet school can allow parents to better control and supervise the child's progress. Of course, strong parents are not always available. When a student is often getting in trouble, school can become a place where mostly punishment occurs. An online alternative may be of help.

Behavior problems are difficult to deal with in any setting. When considering switching to online school, it is wise to take into account that online education may require a good deal of self motivation and focus. Without parental supervision and mentoring, these behaviors can disrupt attempt at online schooling as well.

Another predictive sign for dropping out is frequent moving, and frequent absences from school. Portability is a great benefit of online high school. This may be the only way a family that moves often can have continuity of schooling. The only thing needed is an internet connection for the student to attend school. Absences are another case, depending on the cause, but online school may have an answer for this as well.

When kids are asked why they dropped out, they describe dislike for school, job pressures, pregnancy, and parental duties. When traditional schools are too rigid for these students, an online alternative is available. Virtual schools give the time and place flexibility not offered by traditional public schools.

All across the U.S. schools are attacking the problem of drop outs. Online high school, while still in development, will have an increasing role to play. Given the nightmarish consequences of entering life without a high school diploma, this problem demands that every alternative be utilized. There are numerous online high schools to choose from. Finding which one is best for a particular child can save a child from poverty, and lost opportunities.

An Overview Of BBC Bitesize

By Luke Redding

The BBC Bitesize service is an online support service for children in Great Britain. It was built to aid school children with their education and to help them pass exams. The site was started in 1998 with the tagline "Making revision easier to digest".

At first BBC Bitesize only looked in to the core UK subjects of Mathematics, Science and English. They were chosen from the KS One, KS Two and KS Three curriculum, and also the GCSE curriculum. Later, a Scottish curriculum was added to the program and, in recent years, the Welsh curriculum.

The site has revision guides and course notes, as well quizzes, games and actors. The notes on the site help students to learn the key facts that are necessary to progress and are augmented by picture and diagrams. To this the BBC has also released a series of books and other media and an interactive TV service, through the BBCi feature.

The first section of the BBC Bitesize site (The English Section) is divided into four sections; KS One, KS Two, KS Three and the GCSE part. The KS One site looks at literacy and numeracy. The KS Two site looks at Mathematics, English and Science. The KS Three site looks at the same subjects as KS Two just with further detail. This includes work on Shakespeare, Quadratic Equations and human biology.

The GCSE section is yet more complex than the other three. It covers more subjects, which include Art, Business Studies, French, Design and Technology, German, Geography, Spanish, Music, History, Physical Education and Religious Studies. The three main subjects are still looked at in extensive detail and are accompanied by extra learning devices.

The Scottish section of the BBC Bitesize site is divided into two secions; Standard Grades and Highers. The site covering Standard Grades looks at twelve different subjects. These are Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, English, Geography, History, French, Modern Studies, Religious Studies, Computing Studies and Physical Education.

The Highers site covers the same subjects, only in much greater detail. Also included is the Scotland only subject of Scottish Gaelic. There is also a section for Gaelic students to study with, called Gaidhlig. However, not all subjects on the curriculum are included, for example Economics or Business Management.

The third section of the BBC Bitesize site (The Welsh Section) looks at four subjects. These are Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Welsh. There is also an extra resource that is available to allow a non-Welsh student to learn Welsh as another language. It should be noted that the Welsh section is the newest part of the site and is therefore still in the development stages.

There has been some criticism of the BBC Bitesize site despite it being such a simple system. The Computer Studies system, for example, is considered by many to be out of date. There is also criticism from Scotland and Wales that their curriculums are not covered in enough detail. A similar complaint is that the site's use of cartoons is patronizing and aesthetically unappealing.

By Sophia Peters

What is involved in studying online nursing? What jobs are there for nurses? What are the education requirements, and how much can you expect to earn after completion? These are some of the questions that you may have on your mind if you're thinking of a career in nursing.

What is Nursing about? Nurses are the human face of so much health care - providing direct patient care. They are the first point of contact as regards administration of treatment and conduct of diagnostic tests, and as such, they are incredibly important in the health care profession.

What is studied in a Nursing Program? Nursing education usually includes courses in anatomy, physiology, biological sciences, microbiology, chemistry, nutrition, psychology, sociology, nursing, pharmacology, statistics, environmental and occupational health, and the liberal arts. But you can't learn everything about being a nurse online. Programs also include supervised clinical experience in hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

Nurses are found in so many settings, including: Hospitals - usually assigned to one department; Schools " caring for children and staff; Clinics/Centers/Healthcare Offices - caring for outpatients; Nursing Homes - caring for residents; Home Care/Hospice - providing nursing services to patients at home; Prevention/Education Programs. So there is plenty of choice in Nursing jobs.

Opportunities for nurses are increasing world-wide. In the USA, thousands of job openings will result from the need to replace experienced nurses who are leaving as they reach retirement. With the world population living longer and so needing more care, jobs in health care are increasing, and will likely stay that way for many years to come. The US Department of Labor reports that employment of registered nurses is expected to grow over 20% up to 2016.

What are the education requirements? Nurses most commonly enter the occupation by completing an Associate or Bachelor's degree program. Individuals must then complete a national licensing examination. Licensed graduates of these programs then qualify for entry-level nursing positions. To be a Registered Nurse (RN) in the United States, you must pass the relevant National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) or the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE) in Canada. This exam tests that you have the knowledge and problem solving skills needed to provide adequate health care to patients and is needed in order to work in any health care facility. The NCLEX-RN is taken by both Associate Degree (ADN) and Bachelors Degree (BSN) prepared nurses and the pass rates are about the same for both ADN and BSN prepared nurses. Make sure that your chosen program prepares you for the NCLEX Nurse Registration exam. There are basically three types of program you can take depending on your qualifications and the time you want to spend.

Further training or education online for nursing can qualify you to work in specialty areas, and help advance your career. Many existing licensed registered nurses (RNs) with an Associate degree or diploma take online nursing programs at Bachelor's level, to enable them to assume positions of responsibility in a variety of health care settings. These can be administrative positions in nursing, but could also be other positions in home health, nursing education, or health care case management.

Your salary will obviously depend on your experience, qualifications and which job you have. But in the US, the median salary range for an RN with 1 to 4 years experience is $40,550 - $59.069 whilst in Canada it is C$38.744 - C$55,887 (source: PayScale).

Why Should You Write Product Reviews?

By John Roberts

Product reviews can determine people to buy a product. However, when most reviews express a negative opinion, the product will fail. A quality review reflects the customer's experience, being useful for those who want to buy the product and for the company at the same time.

Have you ever tried unsuccessfully to develop an advertising promotion through print brochures, catalogues and promotional offers? Despite your efforts, there are no sales and nobody asks for your products or services. Where are you wrong? Is it because of an inappropriate color, inadequately price, a wrong market?

Most experts say that you must keep testing the market, in order to find the reason why your products are not desired by clients. However, marketing research is an expensive process that could least for years. It's much easier to build a website, to present your products and to ask for feedback.

Product reviews are an essential part of advertising campaigns, having the potential to draw people's attention. Increasing the customer's interest is the main goal when promoting a business. Nowadays, it's difficult to compare products and services, because you hear only good things about them on TV or in magazines. By reading product reviews, it's easier to make decision.

This mechanism is similar to giving and receiving feedback. And we know how important this process is! Most times we say that we're offering feedback when we express our opinion related to a certain issue. To understand what the feedback is, let's think for a moment what the feedback purpose is. Feedback is aimed to maintain a balance, to offer a solution to a certain problem, without expressing a reaction to the problem's triggers.

The customers must know that you, as a sales person, care about them, paying attention to their opinion, issues or concerns.

Product reviews involve comparing statistics and features, answering to questions. People are more tempted to buy a product that is praised by real customers than one they heard about on TV.

How to Become a Psychologist

By Maria Bascuas

Psychology is among the most respected, rewarding professions in the world. A helping profession, it offers a good salary, social prestige, and the emotional reward of providing aid to those in need and pain. How do you become a psychologist? It's not a hat trick: you can't just pull the career out of your hat like a rabbit.

There are two possible approaches, both begun while getting a BA or BS from a four year college. You can take courses that focus tightly on subjects clearly connected to your intended profession: psychology, sociology, or anthropology, or social services are all good choices. You can also choose at this point to work to develop a strong, well rounded humanities background, with a strong enough psychology t, like some professions. So where to start?

After you've gotten an degree from a four year college you are ready to move on. At this point you must enter a psychology program. There are many possible ways to do so: there are online programs, universities will offer psychology degrees, and there are many, many schools dedicated specifically to psychology and psychiatry. Be sure before proceeding any further that you check to be sure that the institution you plan to apply to is accredited. Try to determine if it is respected in the field. Call the local college or university counseling office and ask if you can come in and talk to a counselor about the quality of various schools. For your own sake and the sake of your patients choose a rigorous program from a respected source.

You will also have to choose an area of specialization at this time. Clinical psychology is among the more common, with specialties in family counseling, marriage counseling, and similar sub categories. Before choosing any particular specialization take the time to learn about the prospective job openings for that degree, and the kind of work you would be doing. Some degrees are aimed at actual practice, some at various theoretical uses. Knowing which you are committing to can make a difference between success in your education and ultimate disappointment.

Along with the academic work to get your degree, you will also be expected to serve an internship or practicum. In some instances the venue for this work will be provided by the school. However many schools will expect you to find your own opportunity to serve a practicum. Likely sources of internship are schools (as counselors), hospitals, and social services departments. Your school will have to right to approve or disapprove the internship you find, and you will have to serve the full hours required by your degree to be granted your diploma.

When you have completed grad school you will still have to go through the formal licensing process for your region. To determine if your degrees and practicum are sufficient, or if your district will require further testing and internship you should contact your local Psychological Licensing Board, most often through your State Licensing Department. If you have completed the coursework at a good graduate school and have also completed your practicum hours there will seldom be a major remaining component: there may be a standardized test, or a minor additional internship, and there will certainly be some red tape. But your degree and internship should have fulfilled the major required details.

How Will an Online Degree Help Your Job Prospects in the Current Economy

By Jane Apple

Despite improved numbers in Wall Street, unemployment rates continue to hurt the economy. While job opportunity does exist, the competition is stiff as thousands of people in every industry imaginable vie for select positions. Its well known that having a college degree will give most candidates an edge over those without. As online college programs gain in popularity due to their convenience and often cost advantage, questions arise concerning how they compare to the traditional university degree. While the U.S. Department of Labor sees a light at the end of the downtrodden economic tunnel, predicting that all seven of the major job categories will expand in terms of job opportunity over the next decade, many future students will ask themselves if their diploma was earned online or at a campus university?

The Trends: While the world wide web has been around for some time now, online colleges and schools have not. And those that were around didn't draw the same number of students as did campus-based schools. In the last 7 years though, those numbers have changed. According to a Sloan Consortium survey of online courses the number of people enrolled in online courses has more than doubled since 2002 and that the number of enrollees increased by more than 12 percent last year to nearly 4 million.

While in the past some employers cast a negative eye towards applicants with online college degrees, the number of good online schools has significantly improved the general perception of degrees from these colleges.

How Grads with Online College Degrees Can Flourish: Employers concerns over an online degree generally stem from whether or not its from an accredited degree program and the teaching methods utilized. Fortunately for students currently looking for accredited online college degree programs, there are a number of resources to assist with the filtering process. A simple online college search of accredited degree programs will deliver a host of results, including resource sites that show provide information on several accredited colleges at once. Sites including the Council for Higher Education Accreditation's maintain databases of more than 7,000 degree-granting and non-degree-granting institutions in addition to 17,000 programs that are accredited by United States accrediting organizations.

Businesses Educate Online: Online training courses have become more commonplace in businesses " especially large corporations. It saves costs as employers don't have to pay for travel or training facilities, and it classes can often be attended a few hours at a time meaning lost time shouldn't be much of an issue. GlobeInvestor.com wrote, Today there's a good chance employees at a large corporation are themselves online students, maybe even the hiring manager. In a 2007 research study by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) over 70% of the respondent companies offered tuition reimbursement for online degrees from regionally accredited colleges,.

Its all about the interview. Regardless of whether a degree came from an online college or campus based institution, its important to showcase a person's academic track record and how it pertains to the position applied for. Showing a potential employer the hard copies of transcripts, graded assignments, and research will serve well during the interview showing tangible evidence that highlight an online learning experience.

Eight Books You Should Make Sure Your Child Reads

By Byron Jonas

Reading is an essential part of every child's growth and development. The list of lessons learned through literature is endless. Readers are taken to new places, introduced to new ideas and exposed to new people every time they pick up a book. While getting a child to read is not always the easiest task in the world, it is quite important. Literature is one of the best ways to expand their horizons and teach them about life.

Take a look at this list of eight books every child, including yours, must read before adulthood:

1. Dr. Seuss Green Eggs & Ham This piece of children's literature is considered a classic for a reason. Children love it, laughing at its silly rhymes and following its repetition. Parents also enjoy it for its cultural familiarity. Green Eggs & Ham is also an early introduction to the world of poetry, its rhyme and rhythm entrancing.

2. Mother Goose Fairytales These historic works of children's literature apply as much today as they did hundreds of years ago, possessing an inexplicable worldwide and timeless appeal. The lessons they pretend to teach are important ones that will not be lost on your children, and the stories they tell are endearing.

3. Robert Munsch Love You Forever The topic of this book is quite serious - the evolution of the relationship between parent and child and the reversal of role of caretaker. It is sure to move both parents and children, entertaining while instilling an important life lesson in the process.

4. J.K. Rowling Harry Potter A worldwide sensation, the books of the Harry Potter series are sure to please and engage your child just like it has so many others throughout the world. These books are a great tool for getting children hooked on literature.

5. William Shakespeare Romeo & Juliet The story of Romeo & Juliet is one your child is sure to already know. Therefore, he or she will be able to follow the plot even through the sometimes confusing old English the classic poet employs. It is vital to introduce kids to this most influential English language writer, for his works have played a large part in the formation of the way we tell stories.

6. J.D. Salinger The Catcher in the Rye Though this novella deals with very adult topics, it does so in a way that is quite adolescent. Its casual language and sarcastic tone is sure to appeal to children while instilling important life lessons.

7. Homer The Iliad and The Odyssey These two ancient epic poems, though dense, are at the base of world literature. This is why it is vital for all children to be familiar with them. Both poems provide insight into the world of literature that has followed.

8. Emily Bronte Wuthering Heights Wuthering Heights is one of the first novelistic successes attained by a female author. Its story is as enthralling and heart-wrenching today as when it was first released.

Solar Energy For Your Home - The Initial Outlay Is Expensive

By Bob Hobson

Yes solar energy for your home is very expensive but if you compare what you spend every month on electricity the cost will even out due to your saving. Residential homes are rearing towards solar power and realizing that eventually we will have no more resources available to supply the full load of electricity needed.

Electricity is becoming a luxury due to price hikes not only in the USA but globally. We are also depleting our coal resources. The beauty of solar heating is that after installation cost heat is free. As long as the sun shines you don't pay electricity.

Over the years the production of solar energy cells have increased radically due to the demand and the price of installation have dropped, so you will be able to find a really affordable deal. Literally everywhere you go you will notice homes that have solar energy. I personally have noted installation in the famous Kruger National Park and also in Botswana's parks.

After you have done some reading and research you can then decide whether you can do this yourself or maybe you need a contractor to do the job. As well as installing solar energy to the inside of your home you can also install outside. You can use solar energy to heat your pool, as well as replace the geyser. Solar energy will provide both heat and cold which is a bonus in Africa.

Solar power can operate independently and supply your home with a continuous energy supply. The only time you would have a problem is when there is a storm or in some countries where natural disasters occur, you would then end up with a weak and limited supply of energy.

In many countries like Africa where power supplies are unstable; installing solar panels to homes would reduce the problem and limit current being drawn in excess especially during the winter months by millions of homes and shacks. Already solar power has been installed in schools and hospitals as well as installing solar powered turbines for water systems providing the basic essentials.

Good reasons why you should install solar energy into your home - costs are minimal, there is no harm done to the environment and the system is always reliable as well as practically no maintenance is required. It is flexible in terms of size and meets with the challenges and uncertainty we all face in the future.

There are also DIY solar energy kits available, if you have someone that can install the system for you and save you a lot of money in the short term. Although in some countries the governments are giving clients and home owners a long term subsidy to install solar cells. Browse around first and find good deals and the right option to suit your needs when purchasing your solar energy for your home.

The Upside Of A Biology Degree

By Lynn Lopez

Some people say that students nowadays have ceased to be enamored with mathematics and the sciences, severely restricting the country's production of scientists. Most of them take up computer-related courses or major in liberal arts or the social sciences, it is said. If that's true, then the country could be in trouble soon, losing potentially brilliant minds that can make major contributions to technology, medical research, the space program, and the like. That can probably be attributed to the fact that science courses can seem a little too difficult or even intimidating, as well as the existence of the misconception that chemistry, physics, and biology can never be used in the real world anyway.

Biology in particular gets quite a lot of flak. People generally associate biology with looking at invisible microorganisms through the microscope, or with dissecting frogs--hardly savory and inviting activities, specifically the latter. What they don't realize is that a further study of biology is incredibly fascinating and that it has many practical applications in the real world.

Because of its many applications, it makes sense to obtain a biology degree in college. There will be those who say that biology majors are dooming themselves to a life as a teacher. While teaching is one option for biology majors, there are so many other exciting career paths a person with a biology degree can take. For instance, someone with a biology degree could get into forensics. Genetics is yet another field that is open to biology majors, and still others utilize their biology degrees to further their education or get into the health sciences field; biology is a good prerequisite for medicine, for example. Biology majors can also be involved in environmental science and even journalism, where they can work as science writers for various publications. You can also become involved with the government, helping to craft legislation relevant to the environment or the medical field.

You can obtain your biology degree at the university, although if you wish, you can also get a biology degree online; many educational institutions offer online courses for biology majors, necessitating the occasional visit to school for lab or field work.

Perhaps the most important reason why you should get a biology degree is that it will open up plenty of new doors for you, certainly enough to quash the belief that biology majors don't have a lot of options available to them. A biology degree is a unique thing to have, and it will be your key to whole new fields and exciting opportunities.

What Are Product Reviews And How Do They Work?

Product reviews can determine people to buy a product. However, when most reviews express a negative opinion, the product will fail. A quality review reflects the customer's experience, being useful for those who want to buy the product and for the company at the same time.

Every company knows what failure is. All those who own a store or provide services know how important is to receive feedback from clients. Many times, it's difficult to realize what went wrong and why nobody wants a certain product. Product reviews are a great way to find out what are the strengths and weaknesses of a product or service.

Marketing books will advise you to continue testing the market and maybe you will find out what was wrong. But do you have enough money and time to wait for an answer? With a website you can ask for reviews and get them instantly, without additional costs. By completing a form embedded in the website page, you can receive the answers when they are still in your clients' mind, without the costs required by a classical business.

Product reviews are an integrated part of any advertising campaign, because they are based on genuine opinions and experiences. People are searching for reliable information, but it becomes increasingly hard to make a decision. Product reviews have the role to answer to any possible question of a customer regarding the particularities and features of a product.

You must earn the trust and loyalty of your customers. Therefore, it's important to provide them accurate information about the product they are going to use.

The secret of optimal sales and marketing consists in our capacity to project an image of a product or service and then to bring that image to fruition through a reality check. The main objective is to drive perfection through various feedback mechanisms, such as product reviews.

By James Morgan

Thin ribbons and army ribbons may be no more than a piece of felt or cloth to the unsuspecting eye, but a deeper look into the matter will reveal that these seemingly mundane objects can be more precious than gold.

Each medal and ribbon has its own criteria and, in turn, its own design that has been thoughtfully planned out to symbolize its own unique cause. To those who have served in the Armed Forces, there can be nothing more meaningful than to be recognized for the tremendous amount of work and sacrifice that one has put forth.

The Army Medal of Honor is an award that has a ribbon adorned with 12 white stars. It is awarded to a military member who has displayed fearless bravery and courage at the risk of his or her own life while serving in action.

The Bronze Star Medal is an award that has a ribbon adorned with white, blue and scarlet stripes. To a lesser degree than the criteria required for the Silver Star, this is awarded for distinguished acts of heroism or achievements of meritorious nature or excellent service worthy of recognition that do not involve participation in aerial flight.

The Purple Heart is suspended by a ribbon that consists of white and purple stripes. It is awarded to soldiers who were wounded or killed while serving in the armed forces during action engaged against an enemy or opposing force of a foreign country.

The Good Conduct Medal is awarded to soldiers based on exemplary behavior and efficiency throughout a time while the soldier is enlisted in active duty. The immediate commander is the one who approves the award. The medal is suspended by a ribbon that consists of soldier red and white stripes.

The Prisoner of War Medal is awarded to a soldier who, while engaged in military action against an enemy of the United States, was held captive or was taken prisoner. Civilians with past military service that involved a period of captivity are also eligible for the award. The medal is suspended by a ribbon that consists of Old Glory Red and White stripes.

As you can see, if one were to probe a bit deeper, they would find out that army ribbons have deep and important meanings than what first meets the eye.

Don't Waste Your Time or Money with a Diploma Mill

By Carrie Sommer

Online education is still quite new, so it is difficult to judge which colleges are genuine, and which are not. Diploma mills are showing up all over the Internet. Here is some advice to help you identify and avoid these fraudulent education websites, and to judge if the school of your choice is accredited.

The US Department of Education does not recognize diploma mills, and the degrees and diplomas from these fraudulent entities are not legitimate in any way. There is no simple way out of obtaining an education. You must take the courses and finish the work, no matter what you may hear to the contrary. Some of these sham colleges will allow you to pay for a copy of a diploma without any coursework at all. Others require that you to finish some coursework, but the courses are often inaccurate or sketchy at best.

One thing to look for with any institution of higher education is their accreditation. You will find a list of qualified accrediting no possible on the Department of Education's website. If a school says they are accredited, first you want to make certain the accrediting agency is recognized, and if they are, you should get in touch with the accrediting agency to make sure that the school you are checking is truly accredited. Some of these fake colleges use names similar to the names of real universities, so be sure you check the entire name of the school precisely as it appears on their website.

As much as you want to finish your degree quickly and move forward, you want to be sensible about it. There is no possible to get a college degree in merely a month. The compulsory credits and courses are too complex for you to be taught all that you need to in such a short time period. Be certain the estimated period it will take you to finish your degree is feasible. Ordinarily around two years to finish an associate's degree is appropriate. Advanced degrees will take longer. At the same time, with online degree programs you may be able to finish a college degree more rapidly, since you may work at your own pace and finish as quickly as your schedule and motivation allow.

Obtaining a college degree, whether on the Internet or not, requires time, effort, and diligence. You should strive to have communication with your instructors as well as academic advisors, financial aid counselors, and now and then even an admissions counselor. Your course description should be detailed, with compulsory course work that is at an appropriate level for a college course group. You should be advised up front the requisite credit hours and any prerequisites required.

The college you select should always offer a verifiable address and method of contact. You should be able to not only email them, but also phone and visit the campus or administrative offices. If these details are not integrated on the school's homepage, they usually are not legitimate. Diploma mills need to stay obscure because of the fraud they commit, and that is why they do not list things like a physical location.

It can be appealing to obtain a diploma without having to do the coursework, or to take one of those fast track, one month or less college degree programs. With everything happening in today's economy, you will probably give up a lot to foster your education and aspire to get over with it quickly. Obtaining a legitimate accredited college degree is the more desirable choice even if it does take more time. You will learn more, which will enable you to find a better job. If you do not take the time required to do the course work, you will not know what is expected of you, and will likely lose your job, or embarrass yourself. Don't let that happen. Stay away from diploma mills.
