Some Tips On Buying Used College Textbooks

By Greg Shuey

We all know how buying used college textbooks save a lot of money. It helps you keep up with your lessons even though you have a limited budget. Used college textbooks allow the not-so-well-off students to have a shot at finishing their education in the long run.

When you buy used college textbooks, there are some things you need to do first to make sure that you are not getting ripped off. Here are some of them:

1. Search the Internet for online and offline bookstores that specialize in selling used textbooks. This will save you time, money, and effort. Instead of going around town in search of a good store, you will know where you're headed at before stepping out of the house.

2. Ask friends or people you know who were previously in the same course you are currently taking. Chances are they used the same textbooks. You can buy it from them at a low price. The added bonus here is the notes scribbled on the pages or highlighted texts.

3. Check out the university or college bookstores if they sell used college textbooks. The ones they sell can be cheaper than those sold at bookstores.

4. Before paying for the book, check first for torn or missing pages. A textbook with torn and missing pages is of no use.

5. Look for better bargains. It wouldn't hurt to look at another store that sells cheaper used college textbooks. You'll never know what you can find.

These tips will surely help you find the textbook you need. Remember though that you should not expect a nice-looking book. It's normal for used college textbooks to look worn. As long as it's still readable and is not missing important pages, then you're good to go. The important thing here is that you will have a reference material you can use to study your lessons. How they look is not important; it's the inside that matters.
