The Sell Your Knowledge Funnel Process

By Stephen Beck

This article is about one of the best concepts I can share with you to help you sell your knowledge for an internet marketing business. This concept I like to refer to as the funnel.

If you are familiar with a funnel, you know that it features a small opening on the bottom and a large opening on the top. A funnel allows you to place a large volume on the wide side and a small volume comes out on the other end. The difference in volume is directly related to the differences in size for each of the various sizes.

As an owner of online business opportunities, this is how your business should be structured as well. To sell your knowledge you must prove yourself to your prospective customer. This is done by demonstrating your level of knowledge and expertise in a progressive fashion. You start off by offering valuable information products for free. You progress by increasing the value that you offer in your information products, while at the same time, increasing the price that you sell those products.

By having a number of products at different price points, you give your customers high quality information that they can use. What this does is build trust in you and makes them more willing to spend even more money with you. As they progress through your marketing funnel, it becomes more difficult because the price point creates more friction and hesitance. A higher price point requires a deeper level of commitment.

Increasing the level of comfort for your customer is key to increasing the income from your real online business. You cannot expect someone who is not familiar with you to immediately invest a significant amount of money with you. You need to prove yourself at a lower level before they entrust you with more of their money and time. Remember, it is not just about the money; more time is required from the customer to implement your higher priced programs as well.

This is the power behind the funnel philosophy. When you first get started in selling information you typically only care about having one product to sell. You just want to make that first sale. However, those who understand the whole view know they need many products with many price points. They also understand that they want more complicated products that serve their customers as they grow.

By helping your customers to become more confident with the information you teach them, you create a stronger base of customers. Your funnel should have products that grow in complexity and value as you move up the price points. The better your products and services do this, the more money you will make. Now you do not have to start your business like this. You do however want to keep it in mind so you can factor this into your decision making process as your business grows and you sell your knowledge more effectively.
