How Students Can Survive University Life

Studying in an academic institution becomes competitive and some students don't know what they need to survive the first few weeks, In their attempts to survive many students will face a number of obstacles that they will need to overcome, which can be placed into 7 top tips.

1. Balancing of life - the most common problem faced by most of the students is creating a balance in their lives. By balance, I mean maintaining equilibrium between your studies, sports, other activities, rest and meals. Most of the students tend to miss their meals and recreational activities. Absence of these causes you lose your health and gain stress. Utilize sufficient time for all of these activities and give special time for recreational activities.

2. Attitude - having a positive at college will allow you to put more energy into the different tasks that you are doing, whether these be academic activities or during sports. When you haven't completed something that well you should look on it as a learning experience and put it behind you - this will allow you to move on and accomplish other things. You should also believe in having a positive attitude towards making friends, as these friendships will help you get through the tough times.

3. Adjust to the culture - each academic institution will have its own unique structure and culture and this will be something that you should pick up on quickly. You will want to integrate with people and the 'way of doing things', so that you know what is expected of you and what you can expect to happen around you.

4. Personal issues - there may be a few times when personal issues arise during your time at university. You will want to make sure that you solve any personal issues that come apparent as these will more than likely affect your studies at college. You could try talking these issues through with a friend, which will make you feel much better.

5. Know the system - you should know the university's rules and regulations and you shouldn't ignore these rules. You should be aware of: a. CGPA requirements. b. Method of GPA calculation c. Your rights and responsibilities. d. Deadlines for work. e. All rules and regulations.

6. Manage Time - you should try to manage your time in an efficient manner, plan your schedule and make a timetable. You should also try to achieve your goals in small steps as success does not come in abundance. It will be these smaller steps that, when followed consistently, will give you a great success.

7. Set goals - this decision is very important and will decide your future. You should have a clear view of your goals and remember you cannot achieve success until you have a specified goal in life. To have a clear view of your goal, ask yourself these questions: a. What is my desired destination in 4 or 5 years time? b. How will I get there? c. Can my present studies take me there? d. What are the other things I need to do? e. What are the obstacles in my way? Asking these questions will help you set a clear path.

Concurring these few tips will mean that your time spent at university or college is going to be special and memorable.
