Know More About What The Scholastic Aptitude Test Is All About

The increasing number of College students who are showing poor performances especially during their first years in College, therefore there have been continuous efforts made to improve their educational skills and comprehension through various learning methods, educational programs and related means to enhance one's eligibility for College. That is why the SAT, or Scholastic Aptitude Test was formulated, for the reason of measuring a student's ability and preparing high school students for the next level of education that they must take.

SAT, or what is now known to be the SAT Reasoning Test, is a standardized examination taken by every student in the United States before they enter College. SAT is owned and developed by the College Board, a non-profit organization that aims to help future College students to be prepared through an examination given to them testing whether they are ready for College or not.

The Scholastic Aptitude Test is divided into three main parts: the Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing. The Critical Reading part includes 3 subparts, two of which are a 25-minute section and the other is a 20-minute section. Critical Reading is primarily about sentence completion and reading passages. The Mathematics part, is further divide into 3 parts: one 20-minute section and two 25-minute section. Previously, students were not allowed to use calculators, now they are allowed to use a calculator to be able to save time in computing, as it is faster than doing it manually. Lastly is the Writing part, which is divided into 2 subparts: 1 multiple choice and the other is the essay writing portion. The multiple choice section comprises 70% of the Writing part, while the remaining 30% is for the essay writing. The Writing part is included to test a student's ability in writing.

There is a more valuable reason why the SAT exam is divided into these three major parts. The Critical Reading is included so as to be able to test the student's vocabulary. The Mathematics part, also known as the Quantitative or Calculation Section is included to measure the student's problem solving skills and logic reasoning. The Writing part, which was already stated earlier, is included to test and measure the student's writing skills.

It will take three hours and forty-five minutes to finish the SAT exam. In most cases, other procedures such as the distribution of materials, orientation and filling out of forms will make it longer, encompassing about four and a half hours in total. At the present, you have to pay $45 to be able to sit the Scholastic Aptitude Test.

There has been some issues and queries in the past regarding how and why the SAT exam was formulated, plus the price that it cost which is not affordable to all. Thankfully, with continuous efforts explaining its worth to the public and further enhancing the system, the SAT is now constantly receiving positive feedback. It is in fact resulting in an increasing number of students that have improved their academic performances in College. Junior and senior high school students are encouraged to take the SAT exam. There are different means to ready yourself for the SAT exam, such as undertaking a free SAT practice exam online or purchasing handbooks about the possible questions to be given on the actual SAT exam.
